Our calm and cool navigator

Have you seen the Movie The Polar Express? Well today (May 1) we lived it! We got on the train in Florence and changed to the next train in Pisa. Our ticket did not have any seat numbers on it so I went to find a worker who could tell us where to sit. I never did find a train worker and on my way back I passed a load of people standing in between the tzo train cars. A lady bumped my arm and our ticket for the next six hours of travel fell through the crack to the tracks below! At that moment the train lurched forard and we were off... ticketless! I couldn't have hit that hole if I had tried yet in the blink of an eye the 245 dollar ticket was gone! I thought Jim was going to throw me off the train!!!

We were fine until the ticketman arrived one stop before our stop... he tried to make us pay another 200 dollars and I had the receipt for our ticket and refused... we were escorted off at the next stop! It was almost funny!

Fortunately the lady at the ticket office spoke a little english and was able to contqct the conductor on the train we needed to catch and within five minutes we were back in action!

We arrived in Menton and are heading to the campsite in Giens tomorrow morning... Jim is holding the train ticket until we arrive!!!

The weather here was 28 degrees when we arrived this afternoon and we are looking forward to so,e dozn days on the beach. The train trip today along the Italian Rivierra was breathtaking... sand and sun forever!

All is well as you can tell... with one adventure after another.

Love to all...

  1. What a wonderful adventure you are on. I am so enjoying your pictures and captions and stories. I am learning so much. I especially love Parker and Keona's blogs. Keep up the great work you two. 2 weeks from today we will be in Italy too. I hope you will include a must see list for Italy and France before we go. Our plans have changed and we will be in London for 3 days at the end of our trip June 25-28 and will look Bob up so maybe you can let him know.
Safe and happy travels my friends.
    Love Luanne
